Residents and businesses can find out more about plans to build a new retail development in Barnard Castle at a drop-in session next week.
Durham County Council has received an application to create a Lidl supermarket and Home Bargains store in the former Addison Auctioneers site in Roman Road.
Next week, its planning officers will stage a drop in session to allow people to view the plans. They will also be on hand to answer queries about the scheme and to explain how planning applications are considered.
The drop-in session will take place at Barnard Castle Town Council Offices in Woodleigh in Flatts Road on Thursday, 21 February, from 4pm to 7pm.
Stephen Reed, DCC’s Planning Development Manager, said: “This application is a significant proposal for Barnard Castle and the surrounding area.
“We believe it is important that people who live and work in the town have an opportunity to examine the plans and ask any questions they may have.”
