Barnard Castle lies in the heart of Teesdale in the North East of England on the historic Durham/Yorkshire border. It is located in the South West part of the administrative unitary County Durham and is approximately 16 miles west of Darlington. The parish boundary is shown as a solid blue line on the map, below.
