Christmas Lights
Barnard Castle Town Council is responsible for the annual Christmas lighting display in the Town centre, Lower Galgate, The Bank and Newgate.
The display consists of icicle and festoon lighting, the Christmas tree lights (located in Lower Galgate) and other displays. The Christmas tree is kindly donated by The Lord Barnard.
From 2018, the delivery of the Christmas Lighting has been undertaken by the independent community group – Barnard Castle Christmas Lights. As well as its three-year contract with the town council, BCCL undertakes fund-raising activities to supplement the town’s lighting display.
